Support for Jersey Child Abuse Victims/Survivors (7th Anniversary)

Deputy Montfort Tadier, long time campaigner for, and supporter of, Victims/Survivors of Child Abuse has issued a Press Release (below) calling for islanders to show their support for Victims/Survivors of Jersey Child Abuse this coming Sunday at 11am in the Royal Square.

Readers will know that there are political shenanigans afoot attempting to shut down the ongoing Child Abuse public Inquiry by certain members of our government, and elsewhere, by people who have some very uncomfortable questions to answer very soon if the Inquiry is given the extra funds it needs to carry on its work.

The world (and Victims/Survivors) need(s) to know that the good people of Jersey do not support a cover up and want to put the past right as best it can so we can once more hold our heads up high and be proud of our island knowing that we have done everything in or power to support the Victims and Survivors and to get to the truth.

Please show your support by sharing this Blog Posting/Press Release over social media and please turn up to the Royal Square Sunday 8 March at 11am?

Press Release of Deputy Montfort Tadier.

"Islanders are invited to congregate to in the Royal Square this Sunday morning at 11am to mark the 7th Anniversary of the Time4Change rally which was held on 8th March 2008 to remember the victims and survivors of Jersey child abuse, past and present.

‘Much has happened since that date, and with the help of campaigners, bloggers and former States Members, we were able to secure a Committee of Inquiry to look independently into these serious matters; to shine a light into one of the darkest chapters in Jersey’s recent history, and to seek to bring redress, justice and healing.’ Said Deputy Tadier, a long-time campaigner for Justice for abuse survivors.

‘I am very concerned at recent developments to sabotage the Committee of Inquiry, made by some elements that have never wanted the Inquiry to happen – individuals who themselves have questions to answer under the Committee’s Terms of Reference.

‘The Committee is just about to look at some of its key terms of reference, including [No 13. to] Establish the process by which files were submitted by the States of Jersey Police to the prosecuting authorities for consideration, and establish –

 Whether those responsible for deciding on which cases to prosecute took a professional approach;
 Whether the process was free from political or other interference at any level. ‘

‘It is quite understandable that some people may not want this to happen and will try anything to obstruct the Committee from being able to do its job.’

‘For my part, I will resolutely oppose any suggestion that the Committee not be allowed to do its job.

‘The meeting brief memorial this Sunday, will allow the focus to be put back where it belongs. On the victims and survivors of abuse.’

Anyone wishing to attend is invite to bring a daffodil as a sign of respect. And to observe a minute silence."(END)

  1. I hope the Chief Minister (no not Philip Bailhache the pretend real one Ian Gorst) will be there as he was for Charlie Hebdo. Obviously we don't that other attendee Sir Michael Birt there - unless he will asking forgiveness for his failings.

  2. I will be there but I must say I would have liked Deputy Tadier to spell things out with a little more force. We know he is talking about our esteemed but now disgraced Bailiff Bailhache. Name him Montford. Stuart and Trevor would. These two may be gone from the States, hopefully not for good, but its time our few good Members took a leaf from their book and told it how it is.

  3. Funny how the mainstream media have not been promoting awareness of this event? Says all you need to know about whether or not the likes of CTV, Rag and Biased BBC have changed. They haven't.

  4. I hope the victims will all be there no matter how difficult. This is for them as has been the efforst of a few decent and honest States members past and present to get the Inquiry off the ground. If we go on allowing those who were behind the judicial falings and cover ups to call the shots we may as well give up. Be there or give up. And we really don't wan't to do the later.

  5. Are there any speeches do we know? if so I hope they are short and to the point. Like another reader says - tell it how it is. It is time to stand up to people like PB. he can whine all he wants. Once he is on the stand in front of the Inquiry and the victims he betrayed.

    1. Maybe they should ask Bailhache if HE wants to speak to explain why he is doing this? Would be interesting wouldn't it...

  6. Without doubt we will see the true colours of local ITV, BBC, and JEP, in the next few months. Whats got to be remembered is the way these main three local credited(?) media outlets, have stood by the Bailhache Brothers and Co, and have gone along with whatever they have said and done, whether they have been right or wrong. All three media outlets have covered up and have things to hide. And will soon have things to justify....

    Interesting times ahead!?

  7. The States media are full of s**t and anyone who doubts this is bonkers. Without media silence the cover ups could never have happened. Without media silence those responsible at the top of our judiciary could never have surived. And yet someone asks about the media showing their true colours! Look at the media trashing of those who have stood up for justice and done so very publicly.

  8. Maybe they should ask Deputy Andrew Lewis along. According to his election posters he has 'integrity'.

    1. Indeed. An example of former Home Affairs Minister, Andrew Lewis' INTEGRITY.

    2. Now that would be INTERESTING!

    3. Could be a great speech. 'I saw the interim report - it is damning, I had no choice. Eh...eh...eh... I never saw the report it wouldn't have been right. And anyway Bill said I couldn't!' Frank! Help me!'

  9. Very disappointed Monty, you made 1 HUGE MISTAKE. your statement - (‘Much has happened since that date, and with the help of campaigners, bloggers and former States Members, we were able to secure a Committee of Inquiry) What about all the victims that fought for this Inquiry. The most important people omitted yet again.

    1. In fairness the Victims/Survivors have not been omitted this gathering tomorrow is for them. And to quote Monty's Press Release ‘The meeting brief memorial this Sunday, will allow the focus to be put back where it belongs. On the victims and survivors of abuse.’

  10. Nah!!! sorry, you not answered the question, The victims fought to have this Inquiry & we not even mentioned in he's statement it was (campaigners, bloggers and former States Members) Mmmmmmm really. I didn't mention the meeting tomorrow.

    1. Victims/Survivors were mentioned in his statement only not in that particular sentence. You are right some Victims/Survivors DID fight to have this COI, and fought hard.

  11. Yes & that was one of the most important points to be made, don't you think!!!!!! And of all people Monty should have known better. I spoke to one of you Friday in town, so I don't know what one of you is doing this tonite. But you know how strongly I feel about this & an important statement being put out like that, has really pi**ed me off.

    1. Hopefully you will be able to see past the omission as important as it is and you will see the importance of tomorrow's show of support for Victim's/Survivors. I do know how strongly you feel, and hope to see you tomorrow,

  13. If there is a low turnout (hopefully not) the media wil cover that for sure!!!

    1. One can't really expect more than 20 or so people in the present climate. Just having a little gathering is what is important. Especially with the media licking Bailhache's boots and spreading his propaganda.

    2. 20 would be good because we know most people just don't know eneough and most of those who do don't actually care and never would. Unless it was one of their family. The Jersey Way.

  14. 08:53. Exactly. That's why the state media have not promoted the event. They can then turn up and record low turnout.

  15. The victims ARE the most important people. But without doubt things would never have got this far without the likes of a few States members like Stuart, Bob, Daniel Wimberley, Trevor and Mike Higgins in particular as they kept the pressure on with the real questions, The proposition on the COI was to my mind actually not as important as all of this groundwork. A vigil is fine but we must not forget it is this relentless guerilla warfare that will see us through to victory. I'm afraid that means the big guns giving evidence to the inquiry so come on you politicians above do it. And you too Monty.

    1. I agree with the above comment. If States members no matter how few do not speak up it damages our chances of this COI being as hard-hitting as it could. Yet according to VFC so far we have only Trevor and Bob. We need more.

    2. Big Trev and Bob the Copper are Legends. Please all States members who care - tell the inquiry whatever you know about these cover up merchants. Thanks
