Where was the new Deputy Balliff?

Today, 20-30 extremely brave protesters turned up at the Royal Square to voice their anger and disapproval at the appointment of Attorney General William Bailhache as Deputy Balliff. Among the protesters were survivors of the Jersey “care” system, victims of the Jersey Judicial System and all are victims of this government and Civil Service.

So if the Jersey folk are so disheartened with the way this island is run - why such a small turn out? This is a question everybody will have their own answer to and something that will be argued vigorously by both camps pro and anti establishment but never agreed.

My question is “Where the fack was Bailhache“? This was his big day, the day to be paraded to the public and soak up all their adoration. A massive day in Jersey History where all his thousands and thousands of supporters and admirers should be sharing in his “achievement” in being immortalised in the history books. Where were all the “Red Cloak Brigade” and the fanfare of the band piping him on this triumphant historic day?

Alas they were nowhere to be seen. It appears this momentous occasion was all done behind closed doors, something that has become known across the world as “The Jersey Way”.

Could it be that a group of 20 - 30 frightened and vulnerable “peasants” have the Establishment on the run? Could it be that these frightened and vulnerable people have more courage in their little finger than the entire establishment of Jersey?

You decide.

  3. My son a couple of days ago whist we were at the zoo and going to visit the reptile house, said I've got a school visit there. I said, where? He said the 'snakes chambers', so I asked him to repeat and he did then I remembered the school note asking for help for a visit to the States Chambers!!

If people chose to argue about it, they're stupid. It was 10.30 on a Monday morning. The vast majority of work-age islanders are....AT WORK....at that time.

Under the cirmcumstances a turn out of 20-30 was an impressive result.

    Erm, no.

  7. The protest was a great success - the speeches inside acknowledged the dissent yet again so it's no longer just business as usual.
Also the people from the UK Department of Justice were there too and will take the message back to London. Change will come one day.
But the public will have to keep pushing - how many of our so called "elected representatives" even bothered to engage with the whistle-blowers? Just waving as they passed by is not support. Take note. Remember them when they ask for your support for their pet projects or delivering leaflets at election time.

  8. Well well, another fine day in the square ! Cold, wet, and windy, but at least we were there. Where indeed, was barking Bill ? and "his army of followers" ??? And to all the people who chose to mock our efforts, instead of supporting us, "mockery is for the foolish".

Does anyone think we actually wanted to stand in the freezing cold protesting this vile and corrupt regime ? No, we should'nt have to in this day and age ! To many cowards in Jersey, too quick to slag the system, and to slow to do anything about it, so again it was left to the honourable few.

The Jersey Police showed their lot too. One w.p.c came half way over to us, picked on the oldest and frailest lady in the group, and stated that we would all be arrested if we continued to make a noise ?!!! Brave w.p.c ? or bully and coward ? you decide ? We saw none of that when Stuart Syvret was here last ! However, one officer approached me some time later and asked politely if i could stop using the airhorn. Because of the manner in which he approached me, I complied with his request. Perhaps a lesson in good policing for the W.P.C ???

Finally, a big thank you to those who turned up in support. What was heartening was the fact that there were faces that showed up, I had not seen before. This says enough on its own !!! Well done you guys, top people xxx

    20 - 30 people on an island of 90,000+...

I had more people smell the fart I did the other day.

  10. Well done!

Keep the local pressure on - it does have an effect and it's getting noticed!

  11. Why is it that everyone who debases our efforts, has not got the courage to even leave a name ? and yet, the author of this blog, has the courage to print "all responses" ? Think on J.E.P

Instead of signing in anonymous, perhaps you should sign in "anony-MOUSE" !!!

  12. Ian Evans.

It is not strictly correct to say I publish "EVERY" comment.

Although I have let one through today, I do operate a zero tolerance policy when it comes to trolls.

That is to say I don't, as a rule, publish comments that are personally insulting and blatantly submitted to draw attention away from the post.

I have allowed one through today just to give some balance as it is not a personal insult or threat.

    Oh dear.

As they say, ignorance is bliss. Until the day you end up with the s****y end of the stick and realise what all the fuss was about. It'll be too late by then, my friend, too late.

Laugh all you like today, because the bigger joke's on you.

  14. Is this blog dedicated to the dying tribe that was once known as the followers of St Syvret? Reads like it.

  16. Neil, I was listening to the local dribble on the lunch time phone in.
They read out an e mail from Neil from St Clements stating how Stuart Syvret had lost your respect.
Was it from you? Or another blatant attempt at propaganda.

  17. I very rarely listen to the phone-in any more since I have been prevented from taking part.

I don't even attempt to contribute to it either. Because of it's propoganda bullshit.

Senator Syvret has in fact gained more of my respect, but if I was to e-mail that in to the phone-in I would guess when it was read out it would say that he's lost my respect.

So answer to your question, it was propoganda bullshit. Do you expect anything different from the Bridget Bullshit Corporation?

  18. How very sad and pathetic that childish people have to resort to using other people's identities or 'takes' on their names to leave silly comments which most folk would know would not be attributed to you.

Shows the mentality doesn't it, and WE were called pathetic and fools for making a public show on Monday. I call that fearless and honest.

Can't wait for your next postings on Shenton and Monty. Never had any time or respect for Shenton, but am really disappointed in Monty on this weeks showing. There are a few that are showing their true colours who will not get my vote again.
