Senator Sam Mezec (VoNC) Interview.

Senator Sam Mezec

Further to our PREVIOUS POST  earlier today where we published the resignation letter (of now former) Children's and Housing Minister Senator Sam Mezec. Ahead of tomorrow's Vote of No Confidence (VoNC) against Chief Minister, Senator John Le Fondre, we were granted an in-depth interview with Senator Sam Mezec (below).

We wanted to ask; "if the VoNC is successful, then what happens?" "How likely is it to happen?" "Are we heading for an Ian Gorst, by proxy, Government should Chief Minister Le Fondre lose the vote?" "Are the numbers there to dethrone him?"

We discussed the "government within a Government" as mentioned by Deputy Inna Gardiner on State Radio this morning but first brought to our attention back in 2010 by (possibly illegally) suspended Chief Police Officer GRAHAM POWER QPM. where Civil Servants, and Law Offices, are running the show, usurping the democratic process with complete impunity. Will the new Chief Minister (if there is one) tackle this huge problem of a government within a government?

Further explored is the idea that Chief Executive Officer Charlie Parker might be trying to cure the island of "The Jersey Way" and like all others before him (who have tackled the issue) is becoming a victim of it as a result? We need only think of Stuart Syvret, Lenny Harper, Graham Power, Shona and Trevor Pitman to name but a few.

Much more is discussed in this very informative interview such as the "choice" we have should John Le Fondre lose the vote. So far we have three options (sic) on the table for Chief Minister. They are:

Option 1 A right-wing Conservative, and staunch supporter of "The Jersey Way." (John Le Fondre)

Option 2 A  right-wing Conservative, and staunch supporter of "The Jersey Way." (Kristina Moore)

Option 3 A  right-wing Conservative, and staunch supporter of "The Jersey Way." Lyndon Farnham (if as rumoured he will be throwing his hat in the ring)

Could we have a fourth option of a left-wing socialist throwing their hat in the ring...........................................? Watch the video and find out.........................

  2. Am hearing that Charlie Parker has resigned his position as CEO of States of Jersey.

  3. So - does this mean he can retain his position with NED, keep his rather nice salary and retain his quallies? Can't be that simple surely!!

  4. Tthis is a rational and balanced interview showing mature political skills. It is probably inevitable that in the Jersey context he would catogorise "Right Wing Conservatives" as the sort of politicians he sees in Jersey.

Remember that over here in the UK there are many who see the "Conservatives" as the radicals and others as 1950s class-war warriors. It will be interesting how this progresses.

  5. The Island is predominantly to the Right. Always has been.

  6. Civil servants run the world. Are you really surprised to be told this? Politicians like Trump come and go because they are all puppets on strings. Civil servants have jobs for life so they will always run the mechanics behind the show.

    1. I'd argue that one of the reasons of the abuse Trump has received is because he isn't a politician with a puppet master.

  7. Is there a democracy vaccine yet?
Democratic governments are dead or dying across the world.
From tiny Sark to the USA there is a disease eating away at the basic processes by which people participate in their own government.
Jersey is now in the front line of this democratic failure.
Today the remnants of our government will meet virtually and try to save itself through talk – but it is no coincidence that the public can only participate virtually.
We cannot gather in the Royal Square and join the debate directly because we are confined by Covid alongside the rest of the world.
Yet the mob is not so constrained.
The hostile bystanders can participate virtually to shout abuse at their “leaders” via the internet. There is no longer a need to assemble physically to throw bricks. The mobsters do not even have to be identified or leave their armchairs.

At the highest levels of democratic failure people are murdered by decree, poison or drone. We can watch it all happen virtually but do nothing practically to prevent it.
The democratic dream of representation of the people by the people was always an unrealistic aspiration – but what are we now left with - is the “ballot box” relevant to achievement?
Can we produce sufficient or any people to govern us with consent in such a small place as Jersey?
How many do we need and what might be the “TOR” aka terms of reference - is there a “one size fits all” formula?
What should the ideal candidates for government or the highest levels of our civil service administration look like and who shall be fit to judge…

Can this disease be treated at all if we do not even understand what it is?

  8. Sorry to gate crash but this excellent site has been supporting survivors and shining an investigative spotlight into Jerseys dark abusive past for years. Is VFC the hinges that swung the giant doors open influencing others maybe ?

Pope John Paul II KNEW of extensive abuse allegations against US cardinal Theodore McCarrick involving young men but STILL promoted him to Archbishop and gave him powerful church positions, Vatican report reveals

    From the report:

Archbishop McCarrick was appointed to Washington in late 2000 and created cardinal in early 2001. The evidence shows that Pope John Paul II personally made the decision to appoint McCarrick and did so after receiving the counsel of several trusted advisors on both sides of the Atlantic.

At the time of his appointment to Washington, the allegations against McCarrick generally fell into four categories:
