Goodbye Boscar.

Today brings this Blog back to it’s roots. I originally started Blogging as a way (the only way left) to protect my children from this government. As a result of this, I have received death threats, threats of physical violence and more that I’ll not mention on this particular posting.

Today’s Blog is for my children, they want to say goodbye to a much loved member of our family “Boscar” who very sadly took ill yesterday and was put down. Boscar was our 13 year old Boxer dog.

This is without doubt the hardest Blog I have ever published and might not make a lot of sense to a lot of people. I know people have lost loved ones etc. and will say “it’s only a dog” but to my children and family he was that much more.

I re-produce below (by request from my children) the handwritten goodbye letters they have written to their “brother” hoping that this Blog posting will immortalise him. Unfortunately I have to omit the names of my children because of the threats I have received.

Letter from my 17 year old son.

To Boscar.

When I first saw you I was 4. I was the happiest kid alive, I had my dog. At first you were a bit dopey but that was the best thing about you. As you got older so did I but we never grew out of each other.

As the years went on our bond grew and you were like a brother to me. Three years later our sister was born, and you were there for her just like a human would be. You looked after us when we needed you, you were “super dog” to me. Now that you’re gone, you are still here in all our hearts and your son’s “Clay”.

Now it’s my turn to look after someone and don’t you worry I’ll make sure he is happy. So you just keep running and chasing them seagulls and just remember, I LOVE YOU.

Goodbye super dog.

From my 10 year old daughter.

Dear Boscar.

This is the saddest day of my life and the paper I am writing on is wet with my tears. I am trying to think of all the happy times I have shared with you but I am still very, very sad.

I miss you so much and I wish you were here where you belong, with the family. I will look after Clay for you and for as long as I live I will never forget you or the love I feel for you.

I am too sad to write anything else for you but I will write to you again soon.

All my love.

It's never easy. I remember when we had to put the cat down, the pain that caused was immense.

  3. So sorry to hear about that, it's really horrible isn't it? I had to put down our 16yr old cat recently and the kids are still pining for him months later. All the best.

  4. Thanks for the words of support, I know the children will appreciate them.

It is a very hard time for them. "Bocar" has been a part of my son's life since my son was 4 year old. He (Boscar") has been a part of my 10 year old daughter's life for all of it.

This is only the 2nd significant death my son has had to deal with. It is my daughter's first and they are both hurting badly... time will heal.

  6. Dear VFC

What a beautiful posting and I am so sorry for your loss. I know how tragic this is for you and your family; it is like losing a child such is the bond. It was always a pleasure to meet Boscar on my few visits to “Chateau Voice” and my heart felt condolences go to your and your family.

  8. What a lovely tribute to a much loved pet!

My cat Jasper was to our family what Boscar was to yours. He was a sweet natured cat, he never once scratched my son all through his baby years, and if anyone was upset he used to jump on their lap and bang his head against theirs, which was his way of trying to give them a hug. We used to take him to the seaside with us, on the train, and he liked to prowl around on the beach in the evening. I cried my eues out when I had to have him put down.

I know what you mean about not posting names of family members, I have also had death threats. Not nice, is it?

  9. Oh Neil - I am so very saddened that one half of your 'doggy' family has passed on.

Your dogs were always welcoming, friendly, full of fun and as daft as brushes and real characters to boot. Say sorry from me to Mrs Voice and the Voice children.

I am sure Neil that there will be a certain person who was close to us both taking care of him, and playing with him right now in that big doggy garden in the sky.

p.s When you look at some of our "alleged" human beings in Government, you realise the true meaning of "man's best friend".

  13. O Neil, I'm so sorry to hear your sad news.
I'm thinking of you all, at this time. I'm still sad about my cat getting put down 26 years ago, they do become a part of your life.
Like kids get up to things, I remember when Boscar was only young & you had a right time with him eatting anything he could get hold of out of the fridge. To the point that you had to lock it. The time your wife had to pull a carier bag out from some were not very nice? The time he run into the mirror in your hall.
That is just a few memory's that I have of him, you & your family must have hundreds, your memory's of him will last a life time.
Rest in peace Bosca old chap we all meat up again one day.

    Thinking of you all.

    Trevor & Gill.

  14. Gill/Trevor.

Thanks for the words and memories. Yes he was a character. It was a bin liner my wife saw hanging out of his rear end and had to pull it out. This was after he had got through the new child lock we had brought to keep him from, yet again, eating the whole contents of the deep freeze, which clearly he was articulate enough to breach.

We have hundereds of similar memories thanks for them.

  17. Lovely Blog. Sorry to hear the news. They were a great pair of dogs. It is true that animals help keep us sane. I hope the other dog will not be missing him too much.

  18. Neil and family

Sorry to hear of you loss of Boscar, some people never understand the bond you can have with a dog or other animal and it's truely upsetting when you loose one.
