Modern day Politician or Fraudster?

Yesterday in the States, our elected "representatives", were asked to vote on the request from "Team Voice" to film the historic States Sitting this coming Thursday when it is the final sitting of our present Lieutenant Governor Sir Andrew Ridgeway.

The so called "accredited" media as in BBC Jersey and the "AWARD WINNING" Channel Television have both been granted permission to film by our States Members, but the vote for "Team Voice" to film was, as predicted, lost with 17 votes in favour and 22 against.

Although it was predicted the vote would be lost, who would have thought, that the Deputy Chief Minister, fellow Blogger, Twitterer, Facebook and Youtube user Senator Phillip Ozouf would have been one of those voting AGAINST?

To further demonstrate the knee jerk daft reactions concerning the majority of States members, more so Senator Ozouf. Had Team voice been allowed to film, all they could have done, was take a bit of film footage of the sitting and turned the camera off before the debate started, as far as we are aware. What's the worse that could have happened? But instead, by refusing us permission, the likes of Senator Ozouf get flushed out.

How can he be taken seriously? Why should we Believe a word he says? How can he claim to support "new media" and vote against new media switching a camera on alongside the "Accredited" media?

In the interest of balance Team Voice have asked Senator Ozouf for an interview, or comment.............He has declined.

Below is the Senator's own video recording from his own blogsite of how he supports "new media" which in the opinion of Team Voice exposes him as saying one thing while doing and voting another.

  2. [which in the opinion of Team Voice exposes him as saying one thing while doing and voting another.]

He has form though, if I recall correctly, before the last election, he promised not support a rise in GST, then once elevated to Treasury Minister, did not only vote for it, but pushed it through.

I wonder how many things he has said, but in reality, acted in an opposite manner?

Perhaps you could run a competition!

  4. The reasoning for this is simple: the States can lean on the BBC and CITV to ensure that any bad-mannered interventions from a certain evil litle troll gets left on the editing room floor.

I am not going to name names...

  5. Senator Ozouf so got caught out with this one but who is surprised?

He will tell us it was because of this and that, accredited, non accredited blah blah etc etc when the real truth is simple. The ruling elite would have sent him to the dungeon if he had voted the other way. Senator Ozouf has been groomed for the position he now holds. He made himself look a complete and utter plonker yesterday and gave me a good laugh.

  8. Just because Senator Ozouf uses new media it doesn't mean he has to support every blog going like yours!

Its not about supporting any particular blog, that would be too controlling and maybe lead to accusations of subjectivity. The fact is he voted against freedom of the public to have a choice of where they get their news from. Ozouf sees the need to blog, I assume because he recognises their is a big audience, that big audience now know he is not quite as open as he wants to appear!!!

  11. Having watched Ozouf's video I am truly amazed. The only conclusion that I can draw is that he is desperate to do or say anything that might put him in a good light with younger voters. Yet so filled with hubris is this pernicious politician that clearly he thought he would not get found out. He's barking. Simple as.

  12. Since being in government am I to believe, Mr. Ozouf is oblivious, of any concerns at the power maintained by the States, in controls held over the media?

Voice, you communicate with a wide range of people on a variety of issues using new media and you do it successfully.

Mr Ozouf craves a slice of that pie. The public, the sheeple, are fed tit bits from States of Jersey fed churnalism.

I dont believe now, particulary now it would be in Mr. Ozoufs personal interest having a blogger video within the States Chamber. Hence his vote.

Will Christie Tucker, in her round up of the States today, be mentioning anything about Deputy Rondel's speech of how there is no "investigative Journalism" on the island? Before he was silenced by the Bailiff.

  17. Oh dear Philip young chap - hoisted by your own petard eh?

T(w)itter ye not as Frankie Howard would have said, but I bet a lot of us are tittering at the moment!

It appears you are a man not to be trusted in any way, shape or form. You renege on promises made to the electorate then do a complete U-turn on words you have spoken in this interview.

So, please practice what you are now preaching, stop all your on-line activities and let the decent and honest bloggers get on with the job.

    BLOGGER’S FILMING REQUEST REJECTED

A REQUEST to allow a blogger to film a special farewell sitting for the departing Lieutenant-Governor has been rejected by the States.
The Bailiff, Michael Birt, said that the accredited media had been given permission to record the special sitting on Thursday, when Lieutenant-Governor Sir Andrew Ridgway retires. A group calling itself Team Voice, which has links to various blogs and has campaigned over the alleged cover-up of child abuse in Jersey, had asked if they could film the occasion as well, he told the House.
The Constable of ST Savour, Peter Hanning, said that the person asking to film had been previously ejected from the public gallery for his behaviour. His comment provoked foot-stamping applause from the Members.
Deputy Montfort Tadier said that there could be a “positive effect” from allowing a non-accredited media to film the States, claiming it would be an accurate record of the event. However, he added that they would have to abide by some code of conduct.
Deputy Trevor Pitman said that he thought it was appalling that a member of the public, even if it not an accredited journalist, should not be allowed to take footage of the special sitting.
After a brief debate Members rejected allowing the bloggers to film the sitting by 22 votes to 17.

  19. Please excuse me if I am wrong, but was not the blogger in question not asked to remove himself, because he had done exactly what all the sycophantic foot stampers had done and stamped his feet??

And why not - it is a public gallery and what is good for the goose should be good for the gander. Talk about double standards (well we don't have to because they are all too obvious!).

And....just as a small reminder, I recall when I was sitting peacefully and unobtrusively in the public gallery just holding a picture of my deceased son at the time Jimmy Perchard was trying to get re-elected as Health Minister.

Sneaky-weaky Ozouf made a complaint and I was asked to stop holding it up or remove myself. How little I knew then to what I know now, else I would have remained and got myself forcibly ejected.

Ozouf and most of your cronies - you would not be fit to lick my son's boots.

  23. The Foot Stamping Lackeys have got no shame.

For the last three years the majority of these Foot Stampers have been stamping there feet in approval of denying the Abuse Survivors Justice.

Have Consistently voted against any enquiry/Review that could expose the guilty and this morning have the nerve to stamp their feet when the out-going Lt. Governor said the eye had been taken off the victims getting justice.

It just makes one ashamed to be from Jersey.

  24. You have to see it from both sides though. Has there been far too much bad publicity from the UK gutter press? It did get really stupid at one time with even pictures of torture chairs from Japan.

    ReplyDelete
  25. Jersey "journalism" at its best. Matthew Price gets the LG to read his speech out to him. Licence fee payers are shelling out for this GUMPH.

What did the LG say to Matthew Price that he hadn't read out in his speech?

    ReplyDelete
  26. VFC - has anybody actually recorded the speech the LG made in the States Assembly as opposed to this interview?

What a disgrace - I cannot think of one politician who has made 'political gain' out of this scandal. Indeed, even those who have vaguely supported the abuse survivors have been treated with derision, let alone what has happened to Stuart.

How many of the remaining motley bunch have even thought to listen/engage with any of those affected who have not yet (but will) see justice.

How detached or brainwashed from the reality was Mr Ridgeway?

    ReplyDelete
  27. Jill.

I'm sure TJW would have recorded it. I would/could have videoed it if it wasn't for the likes of Philip Ozouf and 21 others.

Might be worth asking TJW if he's recorded it and if he's going to publish it.

  32. VFC have you not thought that perhaps you have annoyed people in the States some way for them to behave like this towards your request?

    ReplyDelete
  33. The foundation for transparent democracy and justice in Jersey is based on whom you annoy? Tragic. The people of the Island and their media fear the States instead of the people and their media keeping the States in check, correct? Unsustainable level of anti-democracy.

    ReplyDelete
  34. perhaps you have annoyed people in the States some way for them to behave like this towards your request?

If that explains it then it doesn't say much for the calibre of our States does it? If they push aside a simple priciple of fairness and transparency because they're blinded by petty personal issues!

You corrupt oli cover-up supporters haven't got a brain cell between you, have you?

    ReplyDelete
  35. "perhaps you have annoyed people in the States some way for them to behave like this towards your request?"

Indeed. How dare you be so impolite and inflamatory as to publically question the behaviour of our publically elected representatives.

This is Jersey. It's simply not the done thing!
