Exclusive: Lenny Harper Responds to William Bailhache's Political Attack on Care Inquiry. (Part Two)

Former SIO/DCO Lenny Harper

Part two of our Exclusive interview with former Senior Investigating Officer (Operation Rectangle) and Deputy Chief Police Officer, Lenny Harper, is a direct continuation of Part One as published HERE.

In part one we discussed Mr. Harper's reaction to the political speech, and apparent vendetta, carried out by retiring Bailiff William Bailhache which has received widespread criticism from across the political divide. Video of the speech can be viewed HERE and the Blog written by former Jersey politician can be viewed HERE.

In this concluding part two we discuss the making of a number of documentaries, a film and two books (that we are aware of) concerning "The Jersey Situation" and Mr. Harper's involvement/participation (or not) in there making. We also discuss the role played by the local Old Media (formerly known as MSM) during the Operation Rectangle era and subsequent events. More specifically we discuss the role played by New Media (formerly known as Social Media) and in particular the (or some) Blogs.

Regular readers will be aware that Mr. Harper released a Press Statement in June 2017 just before the Independent Jersey Care Inquiry (IJCI) published its first damming REPORT. Mr Harper's statement explained why he took the decision NOT to engage with the local Old Media but WOULD engage with the National Media and New Media where he wrote:

"It was perhaps an unfortunate “oversight” that the Inquiry Terms of Reference did not include how the Jersey mainstream media was able to manipulate public opinion to try and turn it against the survivors and those acting on their behalf.

For all of these reasons and more, I have decided before knowing what is contained in the report, and no matter what is, that I will not be speaking to the mainstream media in Jersey. Should the public journalists that I have mentioned above wish to speak to me I will of course agree to do so. I will also be happy to speak to United Kingdom media sources." The Press Statement can be read in full HERE.

VFC

We (VFC) were one of these "Public Journalists" mentioned and subsequently interviewed Mr. Harper HERE. The Blogs have been, for years, marginalised by the local Old Media, pedophiles and "The Jersey Way" protectors. We have been called "conspiracy theorists" and trouble makers trying to trash Jersey's reputation. Of course it is not the Bloggers who have reported that 65 children's teeth (some with root still attached and could not have been shed naturally) were left (according to Mick Gradwell) for the Tooth Fairy up at Haute de la Garenne or (according to Ian Le Marquand) they all fell out of children's mouths in the exact same place and fell through a gap in a floorboard. We published the official document(s) of the multiple child remains unearthed at HAUT DE LA GARENNE. When Mick Gradwell, and the Old Media, reported that the cellars didn't exist at Haut de la Garenne we, along with former Deputy BOB HILL reported, with video evidence, the truth in that the cellars DID EXIST. Indeed we have torn to pieces the "official line" given by the Establishment and the Old Media not least in this single BLOG POSTING.

It should also be noted that had it not been for the Blogs, and in particular, Rico Sorda, we might never have found out about the apparent lies told, in the States Assembly, by the then Home affairs Minister, Andrew Lewis during the  (possibly illegal) suspension of former Police Chief Graham Power. Team Voice (notably NOT the Old Media) were leaked the transcripts of the (not so) secret States Debate and published by Rico HERE. Not to mention it was the Blogs, or more significantly Rico Sorda, who first exposed Mick Gradwell for LEAKING confidential police information (while Operation Rectangle was still a live investigation) to a "journalist" with a history of supporting convicted pedophiles.

It is for these reasons we have gained the trust of Survivors and Whistleblowers and indeed our Blogs are used as an essential research archive for National journalists/filmmakers/authors and those with an interest in the historic record of "THE JERSEY SITUATION."

Mr. Harper, and former Police GRAHAM POWER QPM, along with the former Chief Minister IAN GORST acknowledge the work done by this Blog. As does the current Chief Minister JOHN LE FONDRE and the Jersey Independent CARE INQUIRY. Our track record is proven and acknowledged by those, at the forefront of Operation Rectangle, and by those at its fall-out.

Advocate Philip Sinel

In the video below, as well as his support for the Blogs, Mr. Harper discusses his fond (or otherwise) memories of his time in Jersey. How the "power system is handed down from one crony to another and in some cases one brother to another." This is a term referred to as "bugginses turn system of promotion" by Advocate Philip Sinel in his submission to the CARSWELL REVIEW.

We have been granted an interview with Advocate Sinel to get his reaction to William Bailhache's apparent VENDETTA carried out against the IJCI (and by implication the Survivors) for his brother, and former Bailiff, ("bugginses turn system of promotion") Philip Bailhache. We hope to do the interview some time this week.

In the meantime we thank Mr. Harper, not only for the interview and his support of the Blogs, but after being in retirement for around eleven years still not giving up on the Survivors, and the truth, by speaking up/out whenever asked by a reputable/credible media.

  1. Thank you Mr Harper for being there for the victims after all these years and for giving the blogs the credit they deserve.

  2. A well deserved shout out for Rico - by the blog - and by Lenny because Rico's outstanding blogging on these subjects has been pivotal to getting the truth out there. I do hope he would make a return to blogging.

  3. Full marks Voice for bringing Lenny on screen. It is good to see him in good form and to learn of his and his family's fond memories of Jersey and its people.

I have such fond memories myself but from much further back (1961) uncontaminated by what I have subsequently learned of the abuse of children (and adults) and the corrupt feudal administration on the island.

  4. A huge endorsement for the blogs, not just from Lenny but the care enquiry and chief ministers. Most importantly of all the victims and survivors. Kudos the blogs.

  5. Has anyone saved the blog 'In Lenny We Trust'? It wasn't a massive blog, just a few posts in the weeks running up to Lenny's retirement. It was full of heartwarming comments, written by survivors and other locals who were incredibly grateful to Lenny for his compassionate and dedicated work. Work that was hampered and trashed every which way by the likes of Walker, Bailhache and other establishment clowns and reinforced relentlessly by BBC Jersey, the JEP and Channel TV. Many commentators were rightly saying they desperately feared what would happen after Lenny left Jersey. There were dozens of comments too from people who were totally shocked and embarrassed by Lenny's treatment by the Jersey establishment and media. It would be very insightful to read those comments now insight of subsequent events that took place in the years after Lenny left. I look forward to the film and the publication of this book referred to in your interview. Thank you Lenny, and Voice.

    1. I remember the Blog but don't know what happened to it. Hopefully the author could be keeping an eye on the Blogs and could tell us?

  6. Great to see the bloggers, VFC, Rico Sorda, Stuart Syvret, the Pitmans and others getting the recognition they deserve. I still have all my archived copies of the Syvret blog from before he got taken offline.

Whilst he should never, ever have been taken offline, it's encouraging to note that Stuart must still have access to his blog; the blogspot platform says it "is open to authors only". Who knows, one day, after all the alleged super injunctions have been revoked, he may get to put it back online?

VFC, are you free to tell us more about the book and films that are in production? I assume one is by Leah McGrath Goodman?

    1. Not really in a position to say much more about the film(s) and documentaries at this stage but will keep readers posted.

Yes LMG is one of the 2/3 people writing a book.

  8. What a seriously long road it has been and will continue to be in safe guarding the children of jersey..

    Part 1

Thanks for the shout out Lenny. Much appreciated.

Neil and I worked without fear. For anyone who is interested we gave it our everything. Years of hard, hard work. Sitting around a table discussing, disagreements, endless tea, cigarettes, ripping each other and everyone else, crazy ideas, blog tv sacrificing everything so everyone had a voice.

The Abuse Survivors, Lenny & Graham all became victims of the Jersey Way... Abusers able to walk away or be transferred away or even have miracle cancer cures in France it goes on.. The innocent plus the good guys all needed a voice and we gave them one. Show no fear

    Show no Fear

Meeting Neil(VFC) by chance in 2008 changed everything. Having been online discussing Rectangle it was Neil that got me blogging in 2010. We clicked straight away. We are two different characters but share the same sense of humor. We sat around the table at Voice HQ and decided to smash into this Cover Up as best we could with the one tool at our disposal - the internet. The internet and blogging had the same impact on the Jersey dinosaurs as what a nuclear reactor would have had on the Victorians. What the fcuk is that..

We planned, had disagreements, drank tea, smoked cigs and worked our asses off to get the truth out there. Team Voice. I loved signing my blog off with Investigative Journalists as I knew it would piss people off. Met some incredible people on our Journey. Everyone who helped us. Carrie and Jill no words can express how I feel about you two..

People read the blogs. That’s all we wanted. They can make their own minds up. But the work Neil and I put in over many years was absolutely worth it...

  11. Everything people have said above is wholly correct. The blogs made a huge difference, maybe THE difference? When you look and consider now how things have slithered back to pre-2008 levels of badness just imagine if the handful of Good Guys & Gals had not stood up. Doesn't bear thinking about. It is also good to see this blog running regularly again and just as brilliant to see former Deputy Trev Pitman returned to the blogging fold. But the big downer for me is not just that Rico and Stuart don't blog anymore. Its the fact that aside from Deputy Mike Higgins' efforts we have absolutely no one really hard-hitting inside the States nowadays. Alright so Sam Mezec is bringing the dual role thing again which is how it should be. But no one, just no one really stands up week in week out and shoves these issues in to the Bailiff's face. Stuart says he can't and won't stand. No one seems to know if Trevor and Shona could be persuaded back. I remember Daniel Wimberley standing as a Green Party MEP candidate in the midlands somewhere so he doesn't seem a likely one for a comeback. This as I say is the really depressing part for me. But absolutely great to see Lenny looking and sounding so well and knowing he has even been vindicated by the devil himself. That has to be a plus!

  12. I have said it before, and will say it again, how refreshing to see yours and Trevor's names back on 'Blogsphere'. Maybe not for the long term, but, the damage that was done to good, decent, honest people like yourselves and many, many others for sticking your heads above the parapet to bring the truth into the open to so may people, some of whom are still in denial. Whether through ignorance,
choice or fear we will never know, but what a different outcome and story it would have been without everybody's little bit of input. Good friendships have been forged and utmost love, respect and thanks to all of you from someone who took on a job and made it into a mission!

    1. I too agree with the above and Lenny hearing straight from Big Gob the Bayleaf's mouth that he did a great job had me chuckling. Got caught on the hop me thinks Mr Bailhache? Regret saying it now I bet? But too late. Its on the record old son. As to the dire state of the States yes, it would be great to have the people mentioned back. But just having one of them would not be enough. We need team work in the States and that means several people willing to climb up above the parapet as Jill says. Otherwise people just get picked off with the old conspiracy theorist accusation as now happens to Higgins almost every session.

I knew Daniel W a little living in that part of leafy, Tory Jersey and his missus really wanted to depart Jersey so I don't think there is any chance of him returning much as I would love it. Stuart I genuinely can't imagine coming back either even if he doesn't have the bankruptcy threat hanging over him. I saw him speak at the rally a few months ago and he looked and sounded absolutely done and not not surprising is it? Trevor would seem the best hope of a return given the fact that he has been lured back to blogging but even then there must be big 'buts'.

Would Shona want to return must be one of those questions. he would hardly return otherwise even if he wanted to? The other biggie has got be the question as to if they even can? My understanding is that they are still somehow debarred as a consequence of their corrupt bankruptcy? Others might know more than me? And then there is still the big reality check. We also need to look to find some good new people to up the sound levels in support even if one or two of these former politicians did return?

Fail and I think we are just in for more of the same. Sorry to be depressing.

    2. You really would hope that all of those who would claim to be on 'the right side of history' would have the brains to get together before the next election. Let's be up front here. Reform Jersey is not going to achieve any major break through come 2022. Last time showed us that. RJ might get a new member maybe even two. But they could equally lose Tadier going by last time. Ward isn't seen as that hot either and who knows when Southern will call it a day? This all means people who care really working together. If they can get one or two of the former members so often talked about here back then all the better.

    3. You are right on this anonymous@13.40. Everything has been going the Establishment's way bar the Willy Bailhache short-circuit. There is no opposition as such. Just one Deputy who now gets accussed of conspiracy every time he dares challenge. You might think Reform are OK but to me they have done little more than nothing.

This is what is bound to happen when people who supposedly want full party politics allow themselves to get absorbed in to the machinery daftly thinking that once inside they will change things. It does not work. Possibly the best thing would be a whole new party but how we would get there I haven't a clue. Think we must accept that most who go in to the States are quite happy with the Bailiff-led sham we have had since time began.

  13. Apologies for straying slightly off the subject of Lenny Harper. But within this the Jersey Hero does mention the Pitmans and our wonderful (that's a joke) local media. In relation to this can I ask if any of your 1000s of readers have recently noticed that having clearly allowed endless on line abuse of those who fought for the victims, and in particular relentless attacks on the Pitmans suddenly the JEP on line stories have almost zero comments and not a one of them abusive? Has something happened here, a new and more responsible editor possibly, that I have missed coverage of?

    1. Probably just a technical glitch. The Rag had allowed the good guys to be viciously abused for years. Not going to change now.

    2. The JEP have deleted a load of accounts and a lot of people have stopped commenting because of it.

    3. HAHA
How many of those accounts were yours @05:06 ?

How would you know why OTHER people had stopped commenting at the JEPeado?

You are either speaking from a position of inside knowledge of these accounts or you are off your Troll-y

How are you going to spend your days now?

    4. Not 'a lot of people' but rather a lot of fake accounts run by the same LooneyTune speaking and always agreeing with himself to try and influence wider opinion.

On the more important issue the Filthy Rag really should be held to account for knowingly publishing so much slanderous hate attacking individuals who had always stood up for the victims.

  15. Bizarre how even the States breast-feeding story has not a single on line comment on the Jersey Evening Pravda website? Guess this must mean everyone on there was really the Jersey troll? Quite believable isn't it?
